Female Hormones
Free Androgen Index
The Free Androgen Index (FAI) is a calculated value used to assess the level of active androgens in the blood. It is commonly used in the evaluation of hormonal balance, particularly in conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), irregular menstrual cycles, or symptoms related to excess or reduced androgen activity. This test supports further clinical assessment of hormonal health.
The findings related to these particular clinical tests are a general guide and do not cover every possible scenario, this is because every patient is unique and these results only have true clinical significance when combined with the patient’s full medical history, a physical exam, and other diagnostic findings.
