Ferritin

Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in the body and reflects overall iron reserves. It is commonly used in the assessment of iron deficiency and iron overload conditions such as haemochromatosis. As ferritin is also an acute phase reactant, levels may increase in response to inflammation or infection.
