Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
Luteinizing hormone (LH) is a reproductive hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a key role in regulating ovarian and testicular function. In females, it is involved in ovulation and menstrual cycle regulation, while in males it supports testosterone production.
Measurement of LH is commonly used in the evaluation of fertility concerns, menstrual irregularities, menopause, and suspected hypogonadism. It is often interpreted alongside follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) to assess overall reproductive and gonadal function.
The findings related to these particular clinical tests are a general guide and do not cover every possible scenario, this is because every patient is unique and these results only have true clinical significance when combined with the patient’s full medical history, a physical exam, and other diagnostic findings.
