Progesterone is a hormone produced mainly by the ovaries after ovulation and plays a vital role in regulating the menstrual cycle and supporting early pregnancy. Measurement of progesterone is commonly used to assess ovulation, evaluate luteal phase function, investigate amenorrhea, and monitor fertility treatments or early pregnancy support.
