Alkaline Phosphatase
ALP is an enzyme found mainly in the liver, bile ducts, and bone. It is commonly used to help assess liver and bone health. Increased levels may be associated with conditions affecting bile flow, such as cholestasis, or disorders involving increased bone activity, including Paget’s disease and rickets.
The findings related to these particular clinical tests are a general guide and do not cover every possible scenario, this is because every patient is unique and these results only have true clinical significance when combined with the patient’s full medical history, a physical exam, and other diagnostic findings.
