Cancer Markers
Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA)
The CEA test measures the level of carcinoembryonic antigen, a glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion. It is primarily used as a tumour marker in clinical oncology practice.
Clinical indications
* Monitoring patients with colorectal cancer
* Follow-up in selected cases of lung, breast, or pancreatic cancer
* Evaluating response to treatment in oncology care
The findings related to these particular clinical tests are a general guide and do not cover every possible scenario, this is because every patient is unique and these results only have true clinical significance when combined with the patient’s full medical history, a physical exam, and other diagnostic findings.
