Male Hormones
Cortisol
Cortisol is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands that plays an important role in regulating metabolism, stress response, blood pressure, and immune function. Measurement of cortisol levels is commonly used in the assessment of suspected adrenal gland disorders such as Cushing’s syndrome and Addison’s disease. In many cases, additional dynamic testing may be required for accurate diagnosis.
The findings related to these particular clinical tests are a general guide and do not cover every possible scenario, this is because every patient is unique and these results only have true clinical significance when combined with the patient’s full medical history, a physical exam, and other diagnostic findings.
