Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), including intact and free beta subunit forms, is a hormone produced primarily during pregnancy. Testing is used to confirm pregnancy, assess early pregnancy progression, and evaluate certain pregnancy-related complications. It is also utilised in the investigation and monitoring of trophoblastic disease and selected germ cell tumours.
