This fourth-generation HIV test detects both HIV-1/2 antibodies and the p24 antigen. It is a widely used screening method for the early detection of HIV infection as well as established infection.

The inclusion of p24 antigen allows for earlier identification of infection compared with antibody-only testing, making it a standard approach for initial HIV screening.
