Diabetes
Insulin
Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates blood glucose levels by facilitating glucose uptake into cells. Measurement of insulin levels is used in the assessment of insulin resistance, investigation of fasting hypoglycaemia, and the diagnosis of insulin-producing tumours (insulinomas). It is often interpreted alongside glucose and C-peptide for a more complete metabolic evaluation.
The findings related to these particular clinical tests are a general guide and do not cover every possible scenario, this is because every patient is unique and these results only have true clinical significance when combined with the patient’s full medical history, a physical exam, and other diagnostic findings.
