Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by prostate gland cells. PSA testing is used to support the detection and monitoring of prostate conditions, including prostate cancer. Interpretation may involve total PSA, free PSA, and changes in PSA over time (PSA velocity), and should always be considered alongside patient age, prostate size, and other clinical risk factors.

For more detailed risk assessment of prostate cancer, the Stockholm3 test is available. This advanced test combines PSA levels with additional protein markers and genetic factors to improve diagnostic accuracy and help reduce unnecessary biopsies.

The findings related to these particular clinical tests are a general guide and do not cover every possible scenario, this is because every patient is unique and these results only have true clinical significance when combined with the patient’s full medical history, a physical exam, and other diagnostic findings.
