Transferrin
Transferrin is a blood protein produced by the liver that binds and transports iron throughout the body. It plays a key role in iron metabolism and is often measured to assess iron status, along with related markers such as ferritin and total iron-binding capacity (TIBC). This test is commonly used in the evaluation of iron deficiency, iron overload, and related anaemia conditions, supporting overall assessment of iron balance and nutritional health.
The findings related to these particular clinical tests are a general guide and do not cover every possible scenario, this is because every patient is unique and these results only have true clinical significance when combined with the patient’s full medical history, a physical exam, and other diagnostic findings.
