Triglycerides are a type of fat (lipid) found in the blood and are an important component of a standard lipid profile. They are used to assess cardiovascular risk and overall metabolic health. Elevated triglyceride levels may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and, in very high concentrations, pancreatitis.
